When we talk about golf’s originals then the first name that comes to our mind is ‘The Open Championship’, also known as The British Open that gives players a chance to compete for the coveted Claret Jug and the title of Champion Golfer of the Year. It is one of the four major championships in professional golf, and is the oldest of the four.
This time the 2019 British Open will make a historic return to Northern Ireland. The championship is returning on the prestigious Dunluce Links at Portrush after 68 years. It will be the second Open Championship at the course, since 1951. The tournament will tee off from 18th July and run till 21st July. With golfers like Four-time major winner Rory McIlroy, defending champion Francesco Molinari, legendary Tiger Woods, the tournament will certainly attract millions of eyeballs.
Tiger Woods, after finishing 21st last month at the U.S. Open, will be eyeing for his second major win of the season. He last won at this golf major back in 2006 at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, then again will enter The Open 2019 as one of the top Vegas Favourites at 16-1. Although, with the likes of Rory McIlroy (8-1), Brooks Koepka (8-1) and Dustin Johnson (12-1) the competition seems to be solid this year at Royal Portrush. So, get ready for a star-studded tournament at an extremely challenging course. The outstanding 6th hole ‘The Maiden’ is assured to be a popular viewing spot as audiences line the towering dunes which surround the green.
The spectators will experience a lot of drama and excitement in The 148th Open as the world’s greatest players face the unrelenting challenge of links golf to become the Champion Golfer of the Year.
