NEWS: New York City FC’s young attacker Jack Harrison has been named Major League Soccer’s player of the week.

On last Saturday, Harrison’s two-goal performance helped NYCFC to an impressive 3-2 win against a tough Columbus Crew side. This was Harrison’s first multi-goal game of his professional career.

Harrison’s efforts paid off well, he received well-deserved recognition after scoring two striking goals against Columbus Crew. Harrison named as Alcatel MLS Player of the Week honors for Week 9 as voted by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR).

The 20-year-old Manchester United product opened the scoring just eight minutes into the game to give New York a 1-0 advantage. The ball came to the English kid after some great play from City’s Maxi Moralez and he delivered a beautifully executed chip over Columbus keeper Zach Steffen and put NYCFC ahead.

Harrison completed his brace with the game tied at 2-2 in the 76th minute. Yangel Herrera capitalized on a Crew SC defensive error to win the ball back deep in Columbus territory, finding a wide open Harrison in the box for a slotted finish that gave NYCFC all three points.
