Hugh advised 9-2 winner Weloof on Saturday and has a selection online for Wednesday at Kempton plus a fancy for the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan on Saturday.
The declarations have already been made for Saturday’s Dubai World Cup meeting at Meydan. Taylor hasn’t put up any selections at the Carnival this year, but he’s going to do so now for Saturday’s card, because he thinks WALL OF FIRE is overpriced in the Dubai Gold Cup (Meydan, Saturday 12.50).
Wall Of Fire is a big price here, perhaps because he’s still one of the lower-rated runners in the field, but he’s totally unexposed at the trip and was a revelation when stepped up to 1m6f at the end of last season. The way he picked up in the closing stages of both the Melrose Stakes at York and the Mallard Stakes at Doncaster was remarkable for a stayer, and he shapes as if there might be even more to come over longer distances.
