We are only three days away from The International DOTA 2 Grand Finale and fans are already prepping up for the biggest and the most intense competition of the ESports calendar. And with a prize pool worth $24 million or INR 153 crores on the line, there is literally a little room for mistakes. For the first-time ever, DSPORT in partnership with NODWIN Gaming is bringing the excitement of DOTA 2 International Grand Finale on Indian television sets! DSPORT will telecast the Grand Finale on Sunday, August 13th from 11:00 AM onwards.
DOTA 2, a MOBA game, has a very large professional competitive scene, driven by several million-dollar tournaments, organised throughout the year. Of these, Valve’s The International is the biggest of them all and is the main highlight of the DOTA 2 competitive calendar. The International DOTA 2 is the biggest and most competitive esports tournament in the world. Hosted by Valve annually since 2011, this tournament, over the years has set standards for competitive gaming events, in terms of the prize pool, production and professionalism. In fact, the 2017 edition of the DOTA 2 International boasts of a gargantuan $24 million (~ INR 153 crores) prize pool.
This year, the International will run from August 2-12. Eighteen teams will endure the competition process and make a bid at clinching the coveted Aegis of Champions at the KeyArena, Seattle, USA. Of the 18 teams, six have been directly invited, while the remaining twelve have earned their spots through the Regional Qualifiers. Eighteen teams in all will battle in two Round Robin groups from which the bottom team of each group will be eliminated. The remaining sixteen teams will move on to the Double Elimination Main Event leading up to the Grand Finale, where the ultimate winner will take home over INR 65 crores in cash prizes.
With the Group Stage of the International already completed, the focus has shifted towards the Main Event. Over the past few days, the audiences have been shocked and awed by the performance of the different teams! Crowd favourites such as Team Secret, TNC Pro Team, Evil Geniuses and few others were stunned and have been knocked out from the tournament. Similarly, teams such as Virtus.pro, Team Empire, LGD Gaming and others have mesmerised the viewers with some action-packed DOTA 2.
