Kingdom Come State Park will host round one of the Eastern Ky/Va Cycling Rally Circuit. A group of competitive cyclists will need to prepare for some steep climbs when a race comes to a state park in eastern Kentucky.
Tour De Kingdom Come will be the first points paying event of a 6 race series where participants will earn points for their finishing positions at each event. Points will be accumulated and winners will be rewarded at the final round in October.
Parks officials say Kingdom Come State Park, with an elevation of 2,700 feet, will host the race on May 20. They say the 36-mile road race is part of the six-race Eastern Ky/Va Cycling Rally Circuit.
Riders will tour the park in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky as well as 14 miles of the Little Shepherd Trail. The route will bring riders back to the park entrance and a final climb with a 22 percent gradient.
