In the upcoming Copa America series, Neymar is expected to perform his best, unlike the 2018 World Cup. Brazil’s coach Tite has also said that Neymar is expected to be in peak condition at Copa America.
Twelve months ago, the Selecao were struggling on the fitness of their most charismatic player but now they look confident, moving towards a major international tournament.
Although, Neymar did return just in time to lead a charge for global glory on Russian soil, but was reasonably rusty after seeing his club campaign cut short.
Having been sidelined since January, the 27-year-old returned to action for Paris Saint-Germain in a 3-1 win against Monaco on the day the capital club secured the Ligue 1 title.
Tite has complete faith in not only Neymar’s return but his peak fitness by this summer, and during one of his interviews, he said that the star will be ready for a Copa America on home soil.
Tite said, “He has already come back and we are going to hope for his rapid return [to form], it’s a process of normal progress.”
In addition, the Brazil boss said in defence of a man who only returned to action in pre-tournament friendlies heading into the 2018 World Cup: “Now there is a big difference – there is more time before the start of the Copa America, and consequently that allows for a better recovery in order to reach a higher technical level, too.”
“He could be in better condition at the Copa America than he was in the World Cup.”
While thrilled to watch Neymar back in the saddle, Brazil is yet to discover another attacking talent like him in their squad.
