The first goal, a broken nose and five stitches, former England striker, Wayne Rooney’s first match with DC United was full of dramatic events. Rooney scored his first MLS goal for his new club DC United and unfortunately broke his nose. He led his club to a much-needed win over the Colorado Rapids in their third match at Audi Field.
The 32-year old striker scored the opening goal, shooting through the legs of former teammate Tim Howard and put D.C. ahead in the first half of the game. Kellyn Acosta equalized in the 82nd minute of the game but Niki Jackson’s goal at the 90th minute turned the game into United’s favour. Just after the winning goal and while defending in the stoppage time, Manchester United star was left bloodied after a clash of heads with Colorado’s giant Swedish defender Axel Sjoberg.
Battered and bruised but unbowed! Rooney received the first-hand treatment and stayed back with his team to finish the game before getting five stitches to stop the bleeding.
