The full-fledged series, where Afghanistan will take on Ireland, is set to start from February 21. India will host the series which will be played at Afghanistan’s adopted home ground, the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, India. Both the Afghans and the Irish will be facing each other for the 13th time in the T20I opening match.

In their last encounter on the cricket ground, they tied up the match against India in the Asia Cup 2018. The whole series will play a huge role for Afghanistan as they have qualified for the World Cup 2019. The Viewers are bound to see some competitive cricket as Afghanistan will be eyeing to get back in the form. However, this is the shortest format, the hosts will be eager to form a team for the mega event.

Ireland would be hoping to become accustomed fast and overpower their challengers, while Afghanistan has adjusted well to the subcontinent conditions.

Having won 9 out of the 12 matches, Afghanistan has proved their dominance against Ireland in almost all the games they played. Ireland’s last victory over Afghanistan was back in 2013 at Abu Dhabi. Ireland would be keen to break the curse when they take on the Asian side. To make the series remarkable, they need to emerge champion in the opening match.

On the other hand, in the past couple of years, Afghanistan has played some magnificent cricket, due to which they’ve secured a special spot in the international arena, which justifies their high confidence right now. Having represented several franchises in the domestic T20 leagues across the world, their young players have also proved their supreme talented.

DSport will telecast 2 T20Is and 3 ODIs of the series live, which will be flagged off with the shortest format.
