France had suffered three straight narrow defeats coming into Sunday’s clash so Scott Spedding was relieved at a scrappy victory over Scotland in Paris.

Having gone down 19-16 in their RBS 6 Nations opener away at Twickenham, the French came into the game under huge pressure, and they were pushed all the way to extend an 18-year unbeaten run against the Scots in Paris.

In the end though a Gaël Fickou try and 17 points from Camille Lopez were enough to see them home 22-16
