The golf season’s final major tournament, “The PGA Championship” is in the books and this time it is going to be huge as it is the 100th edition of the Championship. Starting from 9th August the championship will run till 12th August 2018 at Bellerive Country Club. Bellerive Country Club is located in Town and Country, Missouri, a suburb west of St. Louis.

Over the years, Professional Golfer Association (PGA) Championship has built the sensation among the golf enthusiast and is still expanding the fan circle. We can say this because the tournament is yet to start and is completely sold out already.

Last year, Justin Thomas, the son of a PGA professional, earned his first major title after shooting an impressive final round 68 at Quail Hollow Club. He was two strokes ahead of Francesco Molinari (runners-up), Louis Oosthuizen, and Patrick Reed. The 2017 tournament was held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was the first major at Quail Hollow, which is a consistent stop on the PGA Tour. It was a super-sized event, from the crowds – to the number of star players – to remodelling of the course. The PGA 2017 drew more than 200,000 passionate golfing fans. Something similar is expected this year too as it is going to be the 100th PGA Championship hence there will be more significant possibility of creating history.

Dustin Johnson

An American professional golfer who is currently the World Number 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Over May 2018, he had held the label of the Number 1-ranked golfer for 64 consecutive weeks, which is the 5th longest streak in PGA Tour history. Also, he won the PGA Championship title in 2013.

Rory McIlroy

With two PGA Championships in his kitty, Rory McIlroy has his eyes on the 100th PGA Championship.  In 2012, Rory’s win at 22 years-old made him the youngest multiple major champion since Seve Ballesteros won the 1980 Masters Tournament. McIlroy’s win also regained him the world’s number one ranking.

Justin Thomas

The winner of PGA Championship title in2017, Justin is an American golfer. In May 2018, he became the 21st player to top the Official World Golf Ranking.

Francesco Molinari

An Italian golfer, who won the 2018 Open Championship, which was his first major victory and on the top of it the first major won by an Italian golfer. According to the stats, Molinari has maintained his spot in the top 100 of the World Rankings since the end of 2008. His PGA records -Nine starts, two top 10s, no missed cuts.

Tiger Woods

A professional at age 21, Woods was the youngest Masters champion ever, winning by the most significant margin in championship history. He has secured 106 professional wins in his career until now, including 4 PGA Championship titles in the year 1999, 2000, 2006, and 2007.

Among the top rankers, there will be India’s top golfers – Anirban Lahiri and Shubhankar Sharma playing in the tournament as well.

Subhankar Sharma, the top golfer of India, who recently won his 2nd European Tour title. He won 9 titles in 2017.

Anirban Lahiri, broke into the top 100 world ranking in March 2014. In 2015 PGA Championship, Lahiri finished in a tie for fifth place in the tournament and created a new record for the highest finish by an Indian golfer in a major.

PGA Championship is one of a kind that gives golfers an enhanced chance to be rewarded for great shots, and the championship also receives membership of the PGA Tour and an invitation to The Players Championship, both for five years.
